Hotel Splendide Royal Lugano
We visited the Splendide Royal as part of the Tour De Suisse Deluxe Hotels.
The Splendide Lugano is a true Vintage Royal Luxury of hotel, with everything you may wish for and a lot of attention to detail. Our room was most beautiful with a balcony facing Lake Lugano. The light and setting was magic and made us instantly feel so happy and relaxed at the same time. It was like stepping into another world after the hustle and bustle of travel and the city.
You can enjoy the same breathtaking views from the modern Spa installation on the roof. It’s an ideal place to read a book, have some snacks from the serviced bar menu, watch the sunset, or work in a quiet relaxed environment with views over Lake Lugano. Using this place as my Lugano office when I am in the area for a ‚work-relaxation staycation‘, sounds ideal. If you follow my Instagram stories, you may know that I travel a lot and take my computer anywhere. My favourite places to catch up on my duties have in fact gorgeous views and huggy lounge chairs. Sun beds from where I can write emails or make calls wearing a bikini and sip on a Mojito aren’t bad either. Definitely much better than sitting in an office.
The Sauna and Spa Treatment area is completely new and can be visited by non-hotel guests too. I’d come here regularly for a quick beauty fix if I lived in Lugano. The holistic treatment with Magnesium Foot Pack and massage was incredible. It made me feel like new born and you can see on my images how much better I looked after the treatment. I was tired and run down at arrival. As proof look at the shot of me in my robe on the balcony =D. Afterwards I was energised and glowing. The shots in the green swimsuit in the Spa area were taken after the treatment. All shots are taken partly analogue, partly digital, by the incredible Alex Lambrechts, international fashion photographer and hubby.
The service and staff at the Splendide are top. I always love the extra attention to detail at Swiss Deluxe Hotels. It makes one feel very special. The personal note, the box of local chocolates with a bowl of fruit (…).
The light was magic and we enjoyed our arrival goodies together with Champagne on the balcony. I still remember this glass as being one of the best ever. Chilled to perfection and enjoyed in the most beautiful setting together with my love after weeks of apart. I had just gotten back from 3 weeks London. When I am now thinking about it, I’d like to take a sip again, from those gorgeous hand-painted Flutes in the Splendide rooms.

DINNER AT LA VERANDA
It was an absolute pleasure to be served by Salvatore. He’s got such a great energy. He’s from Naples originally. He told us how much he loves Lugano and working for the Splendide. I am not surprised; the place is gorgeous with the huge windows facing Lake Lugano and its beautiful mountains, one of which is called Monte San Salvatore – figure.
La Veranda is bright and grand. A place from another world. Salvadore made our evening extra special. We loved his spirit, his passion for his work and family-life. The cuisine in the restaurant has a lot of Napoletan notes we were told. We ordered stuffed Zucchini and Risotto to start, a Chateaubriand as a main and Crepes suzettes with Vanilla Ice Cream for dessert (my ever favourite!!) accompanied with prickly Champagne. This place sets the right mood. The Hors d’Oeuvre was Napoletan tomato stew. We weren’t sure whether to eat it with a spoon or fork, but it was scrumptious. We also ate some of that Italian olive Focaccia served with our meals. Have a gaze at the images to admire Salvadore’s flambée and meat cutting- skills.
